About Me

My name is Selene Garciayala, and I am a clinical psychologist. I work with and support children, adolescents, and adults who are navigating grief, trauma, illness, anxiety, and major life crises, offering a safe, respectful, and non-judgmental therapeutic space.

My work is grounded in a clear belief: every therapeutic process is unique. I do not believe in quick fixes or in forcing painful experiences to resolve. Instead, I accompany each person through deep listening, careful attention to their emotional pace, and genuine respect for their personal history.

I work from an integrative, evidence-based approach, with specialized training in psycho-oncology, grief and bereavement (thanatology), and trauma. My clinical work integrates tools such as emotional regulation, somatic approaches, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model, which supports compassionate and safe exploration of internal experiences.

I have experience working in contexts of illness, hospitalization, and loss, including grief related to the loss of a pet, recognizing the depth of these bonds and the emotional impact they carry.

My goal is not to eliminate pain, but to support you in understanding it, moving through it, and finding greater emotional grounding during difficult times. I deeply believe that asking for help is an act of courage, and that the right psychological support can make a meaningful difference.

Emotional Regulation and Somatic Approaches

I work with emotional regulation tools and somatic approaches that help restore a sense of internal safety, especially in contexts of trauma, anxiety, or crisis.

I work with trauma: EMDR and IFS

I integrate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model to support trauma-related processes from a compassionate, in-depth, and evidence-based perspective.

Therapeutic Work Through Symbolic Expression

I integrate symbolic representation as a clinical tool in my work with children, adolescents, and adults. Through resources such as figurines (for example, Playmobil), it becomes possible to explore inner experiences, relationships, and emotions that are sometimes difficult to express in words.

This approach allows access to the emotional world in a safe, respectful, and meaningful way, supporting the processing of trauma, loss, conflict, or life crises, while always honoring each person’s pace, capacity, and inner resources.
